Another romantic gesture I saw on TV. Thought it was schoooo schweet.
For Valentine's Day, this guy floated 40 red balloons in the hallway with a love note attached to each and every one of them. When his girlfriend saw it, she cried. Was apparently the first time she'd ever sniffled over a romantic gesture. I'd probably be swimming in a bucket of my own tears too if it was me.
Anyway, this might be something for you to try out this Valentine's Day, or maybe try a variation of it.
Good luck :-)

Valentine's Idea no. 35: Give 'Em A Rose Everyday in February...
You don't have to wait 'til Valentine's Day to give your boo a bunch of roses. Why not start giving them one every single day from February 1st all the way up 'til the Valentine's or the last day of that month.
Roses ain't just for women. That's just a stereotype (well, in my books, it is). So give ya man a rose, dammit. Rose him the heck out. :-)
After February's done, why stop there? How about giving him/her a rose every week for the rest of the year? Make it a romantic habit.
Valentine's Idea no. 26: Go Skinny Dipping Together!
As long as you can both swim and the water's safe, go for it, dammit!
Then you could have a little night picnic afterwards.
Life. Short. / Love. Enjoy.
Ok?

Valentine's Idea no. 25: Plant a Tree for Your Valentine...

What with global warming and all, this is a real practical, living, breathing and thoughtful gift you can have done for someone you care about.
It's all organised by a company called TreeGivers.

Valentine's Idea no. 24: Book a Table for Your Favourite Couple...
I did that a couple of years ago ...for my mum and dad. Booked them a table at a Chinese restaurant - all expenses paid including the cab there and back.
They were in shock.
Maybe it's something you could do for a couple you really care about - for a close friend or a family member. You'd have to kinda find out what they've got planned for Valentine's without giving your surprise away (just to make sure they're both free on that day).
Depending on your budget, you could book them a hotel (too) or maybe a weekend away.
Valentine's Idea no. 23: Go Bungee Jumping Together!
Go on. Live a little. If Jack what's-his-name can do it, Jack Osbourne, then hey!
Might take your relationship to a whole 'nother level.
It's also a great way of not sweating the small stuff - it has a way of putting things into perspective.

Valentine's Idea no. 22: Make a CD compilation...
You know how you hear a particular song and it triggers a memory, emotion?
Songs are memory pockets - timelines.
Are there any songs you could put together for him/her, songs you both listen/ed to - for e.g., the song that was playing when you first met or when you went on your first date together, first dance, first kiss, first time ya shagged each other's brains out, etc.
Or maybe a song that simply connects you to this person every time you hear it.
Gather all those songs and burn them onto a CD for him/her.
They'll love it. I think. Well, I don't know. I'm not a mind-reader. I'd like to be. All the money I'd make. I'd definitely buy shares in Ben & Jerry's. For sure. I'd bathe in warm ice cream everyday, dah-ling.
Ahem. I digress.
Back to you. If you think they'd like a song compilation, go for it, you Love DJ you.
Valentine's Idea no. 21: Paint her nails...
Not as in pay for her to go and get her nails done, but as in paint her nails yourself!
It's fun, it's sweet, intimate, romantic, silly, sexy and potentially messy!
Labels: ideas for valentine's day, paint her nails
Valentine's Idea no. 20: Serenade him with music ...in public!
This is usually done for the ladies, but there ain't nothing wrong with a lady doing it for a guy instead.
Nothing at all.
Hire a couple of female musicians. If you can play an instrument, cool. Then give him a surprise musical serenade outside his window or front door or in a restaurant or even at the shopping mall! Pick your location and go for it, gurl!
Valentine's Idea no. 19: Have Fun Protecting Yo'self......
If you wanna be funny and playful, maybe you could get some glow-in-the-dark condoms or vanilla raspberry glow-in-the-dark massage lotion!
Or if you and/or your boo have something of a sweet tooth, then the following might come in handy: a pack (or two...or three!) of flavoured condoms, or maybe some sensual strawberry lubricant.

Valentine's Idea no. 18: Make Love in a Limo...
Ok, erm, I've only ever seen this on TV. But the idea must have been borrowed from real-life, right?
So if you're both feeling daring, you could, ahem, give it a try, I guess.
I mean, what's the worst that could happen, ey?
And what's the BEST that could happen?!!!
Valentine's Idea no 17: How About Some Karma Sutra Mints...
Valentine's Idea no. 16: Learn the Karma Sutra together...

I saw a couple practice Karma Sutra on TV once; it looked deeply sensual, focused and spiritual. Time wasn't a factor. Almost like it stood still. Now, if I noticed THAT as an outsider, it must have been a blast for them.

Valentine's Idea no. 15: Propose in your birthday suit...
There was this UK drama they used to do on ITV called 'Cold Feet'. In one of the episodes, the guy tries to get back in his lover's good books by walking down the street completely naked except for a rose wedged in his bum crack!
Now there's an idea for you right there!
Bold enough, are ya?

Valentine's idea no. 14: Pretend you've forgotten it's Valentine's Day...
Don't mention a word.
Act normal.
Then surprise 'um later!!!
Don't leave it too long, though.
And it better be one hell of a surprise you've got for them, too!

Valentine's Idea no.13: An Email Album...
You know all those emails you've been sending back and forth between each other? You could make an album out of them.
- get an empty album
- go through all of the emails you've sent to them and/or received
- mark/highlight the words you found touching/funny/interesting, etc.
- print those out and stick in the album
- then look for pictures to include (these can be of him/her, of you or any other images that complement the words in the album. Cut out images from old mags or go over to the Creative Commons section of flickr.com or Stock.XCHNG for free images)
- do your own thing, draw, write little messages, paint in it, etc.
And there you have it. A unique gift created by you for someone you care about.

Valentine's Idea no. 12: Buy Her a Pair of Rainboots...
Yep. Rainboots! Especially if it rains a lot where you are.
Rainboots are practical and are nowhere as plain as they used to look. I mean, look at these babies:
and these beauties...
...and these...
Hell, I'd wear 'em even if it WASN'T raining!

Valentine's Idea no. 11: Write him/her a love letter everyday for 7 days...
Here's another Valentine's Day idea for ya: Spend a week writing love letters for 'em. In each letter, focus on and write about one thing you like about this person. Be as detailed as possible.
Every day during those 7 days, think of a different way to give the letter to him/her. For e.g., if they usually check the mail, put it in there. Or put it in the fridge or their briefcase, or dress up as Elvis or Marilyn Monroe when giving the letter to 'em, or wear some big-ass shoulder pads! Put one of the love letters in a newspaper column if you can afford it. Or email one.
Send a pigeon to deliver one.
(just kidding)

Valentine's Idea no. 10: Just tell them how you feel. Go on.
Sometimes, looking someone in the eyes and telling them how you really feel, that you like them or that you’re crazy about them or you’re in love with them or love them…
…is enough.
Money can't buy that. That moment. That exchange.
You go first.
Tell 'em exactly how you feel.
Take a risk.
Life is short.
Valentine's Idea no. 9: Paint a nude portrait of your lover...
Oh, go on.
Doesn't matter if (you think) you're good at painting or not, or how it turns out.
Really doesn't.
It's your unique expression of their body that's important. The thought, the attention is a gift in itself, a real nice Valentine's Day gift.
....and who knows where it go from there?!!
